Pelestarian Tari Sanghyang Memedi Sebagai Daya Tarik Wisata Budaya Di Desa Duda, Kecamatan Selat, Kabupaten Karangasem

Sanghyang Memedi Dance in Duda Village is a sacred cultural heritage preserved by the local community as a ritual to ward off misfortune and invoke safety. However, the dynamics of tourism development present challenges in maintaining the sacred values embedded in this dance. This study aims to describe the preservation efforts of the Sanghyang Memedi Dance as a cultural tourism attraction in Duda Village, Selat District, Karangasem Regency, by analyzing preservation through protection, development, and utilization, as well as examining the packaging process that aligns with local wisdom. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through field observations, in-depth interviews with key informants including the Village Head, traditional leaders, dancers, and community figures, as well as documentation and literature studies. The findings reveal that the Sanghyang Memedi Dance remains a cultural identity highly respected by the people of Duda Village, particularly in Banjar Jangu, and continues to function as a medium for warding off disasters. Traditional preservation practices are carried out through protection by enforcing customary regulations, preserving original forms, development through education, and transmission to the younger generation. The application of the 6A elements—attraction, accessibility, amenities, ancillary services, activities, and available packages—emphasizes educational and cultural experiences that respect the sacred meaning without reducing its significance. This study concludes that the success of preserving the Sanghyang Memedi Dance is largely attributed to the active involvement of the indigenous community as guardians of the tradition, and its packaging as a cultural tourism attraction must maintain a balanced approach between tourism interests and the sanctity of religious rituals.
