Abstract

Kehen Temple, located in Bangli Regency, Bali, serves as a cultural and religious tourism destination with considerable historical, spiritual, and cultural significance, requiring sustainable management that preserves its sacred values, local traditions, and environmental quality. This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach involving observations, interviews, documentation, and tourist questionnaires, with data gathered from academics, tourism practitioners, managers, and relevant stakeholders. The findings indicate that Kehen Temple possesses strong tourism potential supported by the six tourism components (6A), including attractions, accessibility, amenities, ancillary services, activities, and tourism packages. The implementation of Tri Hita Karana principles is reflected through the maintenance of religious sanctity and ceremonial activities (Parahyangan), the establishment of harmonious relationships among local communities, managers, and visitors (Pawongan), and the preservation of environmental sustainability through cleanliness and conservation efforts (Palemahan). These practices contribute to the achievement of sustainable tourism by supporting socio-economic development, cultural preservation, and environmental protection. Nevertheless, further improvements are needed, particularly in the enhancement of tourism facilities and the development of culture-based tourism products, such as traditional Balinese costume rental services and educational experiences related to canang sari making, in order to enrich visitor engagement while strengthening the preservation of local cultural heritage.
