Manajemen Kerta Gosa sebagai Daya Tarik Wisata Budaya Berkelanjutan di Kecamatan Klungkung Kabupaten Klungkung

Abstract

Kerta Gosa is a cultural tourism attraction in Klungkung District, Klungkung Regency, possessing high historical, artistic, and cultural value as a legacy of the Klungkung Kingdom. This area not only serves as a historical tourism destination but also represents the cultural identity of the Klungkung people, which continues to be developed through culture-based tourism activities. In its development, Kerta Gosa faces various challenges, such as heritage area management, improving the quality of tourism services, strengthening digital promotion, and efforts to maintain the sustainability of the tourist attraction amidst the development of the modern tourism industry. This study aims to analyze the potential of Kerta Gosa based on cultural circuit theory, identify the applied tourism management patterns, and examine their implications for the development of sustainable cultural tourism in Klungkung Regency. This research uses qualitative methods with a descriptive qualitative approach. The theoretical foundations used include cultural circuit theory, tourism management theory, and sustainable cultural tourism theory. Data collection techniques were conducted through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature review with informants selected through purposive sampling, consisting of managers, government officials, the community, and tourists.

The research results show that Kerta Gosa's potential is most dominantly seen in the aspects of representation and promotion in the cultural circuit, where the destination image is formed through visual heritage, digital media, and tourist reviews. From a tourism management perspective, the most dominant functions are organizing and supervising the management of the area, tourism services, and the preservation of the environment and historical buildings. However, based on the theory of the cultural circuit, strengthening the aspects of cultural production and interaction through the implementation of more innovative and participatory cultural activities is still needed, while from a tourism management perspective, the function of strategic planning, integrated promotion, and collaboration between stakeholders needs to be improved. Viewed from the concept of sustainable cultural tourism, the management of Kerta Gosa has been directed towards the principle of sustainability, but still requires strengthening in community participation, sustainable tourism education, environmental management, and protection of the area's historical value so that cultural, social, economic, and environmental benefits can be maintained sustainably.
